Recreation & Leisure Programs:
Brisbane City Council offers regular recreation and leisure programs to encourage
Brisbaneresidents to be healthy and active. There are six programs catering
for all ages, interests and fitness levels. In this section you can find out
about all the programs on offer.
The Chill
Out program offers school holiday activities for 12 to 16 year old including
ice-skating, kite making, Afro-Caribbean and belly dancing, pottery, surfing
and more. Activities are held at various locations around Brisbane.
The Walking
for Pleasure program offers free guided group walks to explore Brisbanesuburbs
and places of interest. The program includes early bird walks, structure
weekday walks and longer weekend walks.
GOLD!
(Growing Old and Living Dangerously) is Brisbane City Council's popular
program for people over 50. GOLD! introduces seniors to a new way of life
through experiencing a variety of activities ranging from yachting to using
the Internet.
RAW
(Real Adventure Women) is an outdoor activity program for women aged
16 and over. RAW aims to give women the opportunity to experience sporting
and recreational activities in a friendly, supportive and non-competitive
environment. Activities suit both beginners and those with more experience.
GOLD
'n' Kids gives older people and children the opportunity to participate
together in a variety of recreation and leisure activities including abseiling,
camel riding, sailing and cooking.
BushlandExperience
program offers a variety of recreational and educational activities catering
for all ages and interests. The programs are held at various bushland and
wetland locations around Brisbane. Activities include Ranger Guided walks,
bird watching, canoeing, learning about bush medicines, ecological debates,
making bush jewellery and wildlife rescue.
