Ramada to Open First Serviced Apartment Property in Liverpool
The international hotel chain Ramada recently announced that it will extend its first serviced apartment venture in Liverpool at the waterfront Quarter development. It was confirmed today that Ramada has signed a twenty year agreement with Liverpool’s Vermont Developments to operate and manage 66 serviced apartments at the third phase of the Sefton street and Parliament Street site under the Ramada Plaza brand.
The additional 66 serviced apartment suites will significantly increase marketing options and will be situated next to the four-star, 173 room Ramada Plaza hotel which is a 22 floor tower currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed by the close of 2008.
Wyndham Hotel Group is the owner of the Ramada brand with CHI Hotels and Resorts, a Malta-based hotel operator, as its European joint venture partner. According to Mark Connor, CEO of Vermont Developments, successfully integrating this agreement to operate the serviced apartment units serves as positive news for the challenging residential sales market and serviced apartment industry.
The new serviced apartment property project by Ramada is a positive testament to a future vision for The Quarter and to the residential property industry in the UK. The 66 serviced apartments and the 173-room hotel creates a unique offer to the Liverpool marketplace and will also establish Liverpool as a key destination for the Ramada Plaza hotel property. The serviced apartment property will be aimed at corporate and leisure travelers and will be adjacent to the Liverpool Arena and Conference Center.
The Quarter is a joint venture between Vermont Developments and Ethel Austin Properties and is currently being developed as one of Liverpool’s new and popular destinations. The mixed use facility will create a southern gateway into Liverpool city center featuring the 22-floor tower, serviced office accommodations, retail and leisure space, and a new public square.
Vermont Developments has also planned a £40m mixed project at Adelphi Street in Salford which will feature 221 serviced apartments. The current project for The Quarter will also recognize the Wyndham and Ramada brands as a significant presence in Liverpool as Wyndham and Ramada has already established itself in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
